Session 7

Heroes: Sparna, Aerandir, Greyfox.

YEAR 2947 - Autumn

The Heroes return to the Easterly Inn, where they're welcomed with a great feast. They mourn their lost companion Fundin, and make plans to travel back to the High Pass next spring, to recover his mighty axe Fror's Fury, and deliver it to his family.

YEAR 2947 - Winter

The Heroes spend the winter at the Easterly Inn. Greyfox and Aerandir sing high tales of adventure, while Sparna enjoys the food and drinks.

YEAR 2948 - Spring

While travelling south to reach the Old Road, the Heroes spot a boat on the eastern shore of the Anduin. Investigating, they find the corpses of two Beorning wearing silver pins with Beorn's sigils on them. The black arrows piercing their bodies are clearly orcish, but it seems a third man, probably a prisoner, has escpaed the scene. In order to give the men proper burial, they make a detour and travel to Beorn's Hall.

There they meet Beorn, who confirms the two men, Merovech and Odo, were his envoys to the southern settlements, sent to keep the peace and bring criminals back to the Carrock for trial and judgement. Angered by the orcs roaming in his lands, Beorn stalks the night and brings back several orc heads. The morning after, he tasks the Heroes with bringing back the escaped criminal.

The Heroes' hunt brings them south to Stonyford, where they find out that the escaped prisoner is a certain Oderic, a young and troubled man accused of killing his step-sister's husband. The Heroes investigate the matter, also questioning the widow Brunhild: she tgrieves her dead husband, but also reveals that his death was a accident. She also confesses that her step-brother has passed by a few days before, to tell her he was leaving the Beorning lands, to the south-west.

The hunt goes on, and eventually the Heroes spot an encampment in the forest north of the Gladden Fields: a veritable army of bandits is preparing to attack Stonyford, led by the bandit-king Valter. They also spot a young man, a Beorning kept in high regard by Valter for the informations he can provide about the defenses of the Beorning. The young man, none other than Oderic himself, is watched at all time by a bandint bodyguard.

At night, when Oderic and his bodyguard are away from the camp, the Heroes attack, subduing Oderic's shadow. They have a chance to speak with the young man, and convince him that there are good chances Beorn will be merciful if he helps them to fight the bandit's threat, and then surrenders himslef. Oderic accepts the offer, and together with the Heroes they plan their next move.
