Woodwoman of Wilderland, Warden
Born 2923
Sword-day Counsellor: Since she was little, Heva sat at the hearth of her hut, listening to her grandfather’s stories of raids and fights against the Orcs, Spiders and other dangers of the Mirkwood. After he passed on, she would pester the other warriors for stories, but none would tell enough to sate her thirst for stories. Then she started sneaking out of the village to follow the warriors. She was often caught, as her people were gifted hunters, and sent back. Yet often times only after most the danger had passed was she caught, eventually the warriors grew used to this and started calling her ‘Grey Fox’ for the smaller fox that often was rather curious and snuck around just because of that.
Due to her habits of curiosity and stealth she happened to come upon a meeting of a few warriors and a mysterious man in a dark black cloak. A bag of coin was accepted by the warriors and then they split up again. Save for the chill that ran down her spine because of the unknown man, Heva thought no more of the matter, and was even disappointed when the warriors returned.
Only later when bandits came upon the villaged at night through an open gate did Heva realise what had been going on. The Village resisted, although with losses. The bandits admitted to being hired by a stranger which fit Heva’s description. She was able to point out the two guards that had been bribed. They refused to surrender and had to be cut down, obviously affected by the darkness of the Mirkwood.
Heva felt responsible, she had had little experience with corruption and bribery, but she felt that she could have prevented the attack.
A few weeks later the mysterious man was spotted again, soon after an infestation of Giant spiders erupted in that area. A spider attack on a group followed by Heva, left many dead. This time however Heva came out of hiding to defend a fallen man and his hunting hound. She kept it away long enough with the man’s axe. When the fight was over, the man was dead and the dog hurt. She nursed it back to health and named it Einar, after her grandfather.
In the following months, the village was heavily under pressure both from bandit attacks and spiders. Several councils were called with the surrounding villages. She listened in on all of the meetings, wanting to know how one would organise all of this. They banded together and cleared away the spiders and the bandits, the stranger with the black cloak was driven off, although no one had actually seen his face.
When the warriors were called together to fight the necromancer, she was forced to stay behind. She was deemed too young, one of her uncles from a neighbouring village took her under his wing, and he taught her war and battle. He spoke of the need to always look at the grander scale, and that the darkness seemed to have a plan.
Together with her Uncle and Einar, she often sortied out hunting for signs of encroaching danger.
When the warriors returned from the armies, she had taken up on making sorties alone. In the following years, it was not uncommon for hunting parties to catch a glimpse of her grey cloak or Einar.
Recently she heared rumors of a blacked cloaked figure which offered money for certain favors. Then In Woodsman fashion, she took up the epithet ‘Grey Fox’, as they used call her, when she decided to take up travelling. She left to pursue leads of the black robed figure, and look out for signs of encroaching darkness in the world. Her people had learned to be weary of certain things, but others might not have any defence against it.
Death (session 13): Killed by orcs while defending the bridge of Celduin.
